Glaucoma in Rabbits
A Hereditary Defect

Glaucoma in Rabbits

Glaucoma is caused mainly by a genetic defect, but can also be caused
by a drainage problem in the eye.
This drainage problem can lead to increased pressure within the eye causing
Glaucoma to develop.

Symptoms of Glaucoma

Enlarged Eye
Cloudiness or glazed pupil or cornea of the eye
The pupil become slow to light stimulation.

Prognosis

If the condition is a hereditary defect, it can not be cured and
will eventually cause blindness and death.

The best prevention for this disease is to cull all animals
carrying this genetic defect.
